World Novelty: Zetros Fire Truck with Crew Cab and Forest Fire Equipment
A brand-new 4-door crew cab, forest fire fighting equipment and numerous further detailed solutions designed by Paul Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH – these features turn the new Mercedes-Benz Zetros 1833 A 4×4 of the Filderstadt fire brigade into an impressive forest and wild fire special tank water tender. For the transport of a fire brigade crew with up to six members in accordance with DIN EN 1846-2, the driver‘s cab has been extended by 700 mm.
Its equipment comprises continuous LED lighting, an auxiliary heating system and a rear seat bench featuring individual seat cushions, headrests and three-point safety belts. The forest fire equipment includes bull bars at the front, a branch deflector above the cabin, various guard brackets on the exterior lighting devices and a special foothold at the rear that can be folded up and safely locked during off-road drives. The heat insulation of all electrical cables and pneumatic lines on the frame and the axles has been fixed by using stainless steel clamps. All important power units such as the engine, fuel tank and compressor are protected by metal plates against damages caused by stumps or scrubs.
The vehicle‘s fording depth amounts to 80 cm which also enables unhindered use in case of floodwaters. So far, only 52 Zetros-based fire fighting vehicles are being used worldwide; 27 of them are running at the UNO and only five units in Germany.
